The idea
What is STEAM?
STEM stands for Science, Technology, English Language and Mathematics. STEAM adds the Arts — and with it, the imagination that turns knowledge into invention.
For most of the last century, school subjects were taught in separate boxes. Science in one room, mathematics in another, art somewhere down the corridor. The world, however, has never worked that way.
Designing a bridge is engineering, mathematics and materials science — and a question of how it will look in its landscape. Developing a vaccine is biology, chemistry, data analysis, and the ability to explain risk to millions of people. Building an app is code, logic, visual design and clear writing.
STEAM is the recognition that real problems are interdisciplinary. The letters are a reminder, not a curriculum.

Give Ideas a Voice.
Why it matters for young people
A student who can calculate but cannot explain will struggle to be understood. A student who can imagine but cannot reason will struggle to be believed. A student who can code but has never asked what should be built may build the wrong thing very efficiently.
Dreamline challenges are designed so that strength in one discipline opens a door in another. That is why our five categories sit on one platform rather than five separate competitions.
Skills the future will ask for
Asking better questions before reaching for an answer.
Connecting ideas across subjects that were taught separately.
Reasoning under uncertainty when the method is not given.
Communicating clearly so an idea can travel further than its author.
Persisting when the first attempt does not work.
See how each discipline is assessed
Every category has its own syllabus, exam conditions and past papers.
