Frequently asked questions
Registration, fees, exams, results and everything in between. If your question is not here, our team is one message away.
Exams
Both formats exist. You will take either an online examination or an approved paper-based examination, depending on the arrangements in your country or school.
Your registration code and student identification. Reference materials, textbooks and notes are not permitted unless your category rules state otherwise.
Contact your supervisor or the organising committee immediately. Where a technical fault is confirmed, the Organising Committee may allow a resit at its discretion.
No. Attempt every question — an incorrect answer costs nothing.
Sign in to your account. A Start exam button appears on each paid registration and switches on by itself at the start time — you do not need to reload the page. Pressing it opens your examination on the exam platform. The button shows a countdown before the exam and closes when the window ends.
Payment
The Elimination Round fee is USD 30 per category. Global Round fees are announced separately, with discounts of up to 25% for medal winners.
After registering you receive an invoice with payment details. Pay by bank transfer, or through your school or country representative, then upload your receipt in your account.
Fees are refundable up to 14 days before the examination date, less transaction charges. After the registration deadline no refund is available.
After paying by bank transfer, open your account and upload the receipt against the registration it belongs to. The status changes to Receipt under review, and to Paid and confirmed once our team has checked it. Use the reference shown on the registration when you make the transfer.
Registration
Any student from Grade 1 to Grade 12, anywhere in the world. There is no qualifying test to enter the Elimination Round.
Register through this website, or through an authorized country coordinator, partner school or accredited educational institution. Registration must be completed before the announced deadline.
Yes. Each category is a separate registration with its own fee and its own examination. Many students enter two or three.
Your level is set by your grade. Each subject runs six levels covering Grades 1–12, so you always compete within your own age division.
Use the username you chose when registering, together with your password, on the sign-in page. Your email address works too, if that is easier to remember. Staff members sign in with their email address.
Yes. Sign in and open your account: any category still open for registration appears under Add another category. Each category is a separate examination with its own fee, and your level is set automatically from your grade.
Results
Results are published in your participant account after the marking and verification period. The exact date for each season is shown on the Exams Calendar.
Students achieving Absolute Winner, Gold, Silver, Bronze or Honorable Mention in the Elimination Round qualify, and then complete a separate Global Round registration.
Certificates are issued digitally through your participant account and can be verified by your school.
The decisions of the Academic Board are final and binding. We do verify participant information and examination results where a concern is raised.
In your account, on the registration itself. As soon as the organising committee publishes results, the score and the medal or certificate you earned appear there, and your certificate becomes available to download once certificates are released.
Technical
Check your spam folder first. If it is not there, contact us with the email address you registered with and we will resend it.
Use the reset link on the sign-in page. A reset email arrives within a few minutes.
Every document we issue carries a unique code, for example DL-7K3M-9QX2, printed on it together with a QR code. Enter that code — or the participant's name — on our verification page to see who it was issued to, for which round and category, and what they achieved. A document that was withdrawn is shown as no longer valid.
