Guidelines

How to prepare for the Science examination and what to expect on the day.

How to prepare

  1. 1

    Know your level

Check which level matches your grade and read the topic list for that level.

  2. 2

    Work through past papers

Attempt a full past paper under timed conditions before the real examination.

  3. 3

    Review the reasoning

Read the solutions even for questions you answered correctly.

  4. 4

    Prepare the practicalities

Test your device and connection, or confirm your exam centre details.

On exam day

  • Log in or arrive 15 minutes early with your registration code and student ID.
  • Read every question fully before answering — several items reward careful reading.
  • Answer the questions you find straightforward first, then return to the harder items.
  • There is no negative marking, so attempt every question.
  • Keep an eye on the timer and leave a few minutes to review.

A note for parents and teachers

The most useful preparation is not cramming content. It is practising the habit of reading a problem carefully, trying an approach, and trying a different one when the first does not work.
